Always be safe, never sorry
So it’s coming round to that time of year and everyone is getting a bit festive. But what does that mean for your SEO campaign? We know that when it comes to the festive season, nobody wants to work, which is why it’s so important to perfect ones SEO before leaving for Christmas. Who would want to spend their holidays worrying about rankings?
You should want to cover every angle in preparation for the break. Always ensure that your content is up to date and relevant to the topic. This is to prevent the loss of rankings from irrelevant content. Not only this, but often when reviewing a site, you’ll come across mistakes you previously missed. Mistakes in grammar and spelling can also affect rankings.
Update your blog. Updating your blog is a great way of providing fresh content for Google. In order to still have continuous posting throughout Christmas, you basically have 2 options. The first is to go on your blog and post manually from home if you’re not in work. The second (and perhaps most preferred) is to schedule some posts to be gradually posted throughout the holidays.
In terms of you offsite SEO, there isn’t that much you can do in preparation for a break. About the best you can do is to perform some link building as a last action before you close up for Christmas. If you can get some links cemented in place then it will put you in good stead to keep or even gain rankings over Christmas.
You may take a holiday, but Google doesn’t. Who knows what updates or changes they will do whilst the Christmas period runs. This is why it’s important to be fully prepared for the winter break. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
