Is the Meta Keywords Tag Vital for SEO?

Are you one of those people who fill their meta keywords up on every page in hopes that search engines will optimisation each page for them keywords? If so then you may be be interested to know that Google doesn’t look at these keywords at all.  Web Master Matt Cutts of Google explains in the embedded video that due to people spamming tons of keywords in meta keywords they don’t check meta keywords. Yes other search engines may check these keywords but if you want to optimise your website for your chosen keywords then there is another tag you can concentrate on.

By ensuring each page has a good meta description tag Google will use the information or part of the information in the snippet which is found on the search engine result pages. By ensuring you insert 1-2 keywords in here you will give your page a push in the correct direction when it comes to Improve your search engine optimisation by using the following tools..

If you concentrate on SEO for Google individually then spend more time on the meta description tag other than the meta keywords tag.

    Matt, here is a good example of keywords on a page that gets ranked around the world. I believe Google abolished meta-keywords because they “limited” pages being listed that were global or international. How can one fit 192 countries in a meta-keyword tag? Meta-keywords were also largely “inaccurate” unless you were an SEO specialist.
